Accepted in a Juried Art Exhibition

Tue Sep 15, 2009, 8:04 PM
It's been almost a year since I wrote in my journal. I think it's time I share some good news with everyone. All 3 of my acrylic art works got accepted for a show in the City of Lone Tree, near Denver, CO. I'm ecstatic!

I will post the paintings after the show's over.

This year's been truly an educational year for me. Since May 2009, I've been honing my skills in other mediums such as oil and acrylic. But, not just learning how to use them. Basically how to create artwork with good design, color and concept. It's a whole new world compared to my detailed drawings...

To all of you who visited my page and faved my works, I am honored. :rose:

Thanks for reading.

Looks like I'm quite unable to put up any deviations nor view any messages nor deviations because according to DA, I need to update my browser.

If you have commented on, or faved my works, I may not be able to reply.

Sorry about that.

Until I update my browser, have a Happy Halloween everyone!!

Hugs,
Dina.

Finished my 1st REAL triathlon... finally

Sun Aug 3, 2008, 4:03 PM
Well, I'm happy to say that I finished the Tri For the Cure, Denver race this morning after a grueling 2:06 hours. I didn't get my goal to finish it under 2 hours, but heck, I did the best I could.

My swimming of 1/2 mile (750 meters) was quite pathetic, but I did an okay 11 mile (18.3 Km)bike ride and a much better 3.1 mile (5 Km) run.

My goal next year is to shave off at least 10 minutes off the swim, by practicing more skills and overcome fear of people kicking my face while in the water!! Man, I couldn't believe how many people jumped into the water at 7 am this morning. They were all around me. I choked, lost my form and hyperventilated!! lol!

Meanwhile, buying a road bike would definitely cut at least 20 minutes off my time. I have a heavy hybrid mountain bike, so it was sheer torture trying to climb those hills. But biking is the best part of the race to me-- nothing beats charging downhill at its so-called 'top speed'.

Anyway, it'll just be a personal battle for me. Me against my old time. So next year should be a cinch right?? lol!

I'm off to the mountains tomorrow!

Maybe I'll come up with a new concept for my drawing in a week or so...

Hope your weekend was superfine...

Hugs,
Dina, triathlete. ;)

Bummer... and this Sunday...

Wed Jul 30, 2008, 9:38 AM
I'm saddened to break this news. The atelier that I have been frequenting to do life drawing sessions and the occasional drawing classes, have decided to close its doors. Colorado Art Academy, Boulder, CO is one of a handful of ateliers in the country, teaching traditional art just like the olden days.

I was already thinking of signing up for more classes including Intro to Oils in the fall, but looks like I have to search for a new place.

This Sunday, Aug 3rd, I will be racing my first and only triathlon for the season. It's called Tri For The Cure at Cherry Creek Reservoir, CO.

My goal is to finish...

...750-800 yards swimming (half mile),
...12 + miles of biking and
...3+ miles of running.

I hope to finish it in less than 2 hours.

I'm ready.

***

Then I'm off for a week's vacation in the mountains at a lodge. Hopefully I'll get some inspiration to start a new piece mid August...

Thanks for your comments, favs and devwatch. I appreciate your kind attention very much...

Have a great August everyone!!

Hugs,
Dina.
